Nepal army khukuri


The size is similar to Nepal army khukuri but the shape of the blade is alike to Bhojpuri khukuri. As everyone knows that the Khukuri or kukri is the National Weapon of Nepal and not to use by Nepal Police and Armed Police Force is out of the question. The Nepal Police khukuri or kukri is preferably made by Rosewood Handle and the blade is slightly broader than the Nepal Army Issue. This Nepal Police khukuri has the cross khukuri insignia at the end cap of the handle to distinguish themselves as Nepal Police Force.
All Khukuris have two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a blunt steel called “chakmak” for sharpening the blade or for striking spark from flint and a little knife known as “karda” used for skinning small animals such as rabbits. The notch (Kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most khukuri serves as the conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a device for catching and neutralizing and enemy blade. This kukri is the most popular kukri. Nepal police khukuri is a part of a uniform that is carried by them. Havildar Kukri

The Havildar kukri(khukuri) which were carried by the sergeant in the Gurkhas for Burma campaign in world war second. Which are made by the combination of Highly Graded Carbon steel(car and jeep, 5160) for the blade, Water Buffalo lather for the scabbard, buffalo horn for the handle, pinewood for the scabbard inside with white metal and “Laha”(Nepali Traditional Glue)?  Its blade size is 13.5(33.75) inch with a handmade and unpolished blade, with handle 4.5(11.25cm) inch made with Buffalo Horn tail long handle.
The knife has upper spine 9 mm and lower spine 6 mm and its handle circumference is 4.1 inch with belly 2.5 inch. The knife is made harder with the use of steel which is composed of the spine about 22-25 RC, belly 45-46 RC, edge 54-55 RC. The total weight of The Havildar kukri is 600gms.  This kukri has a sharp blade that was used by the Gurkha during the word war to attack the opposite team.  This was officially used kukri at that time so it gives a corresponding official pattern.
